SCCY Industries CPX-2 NB (Nickel Boron) Pistol
Another recently introduced mini-9mm is the CPX series from SCCY. New for 2013 is a Nickel Boron slide-finished variation that has the advantages of extreme durability, self-lubricating properties and reliability. This is mated to a polymer frame with a recoil-absorbing back-strap design and a 1-inch-wide grip frame that allows a 10-round double-column magazine. With an empty weight of 15 ounces, the CPX-2 is DAO with no external safeties, an overall length of 5.7 inches and a height of 4 inches—wow! (sccy.com)
Eagle Imports Metroarms MAC 1911 Bobcut
New Philippine-made .45’s are coming ashore the United States that offer many custom enhancements as standard features. The throated 4.25-inch-barreled Bobcut, with its concealment-enhancing chopped butt, comes in blue, hard chrome and a two-tone that I liked. It is Commander-sized—8+1—and some of its many features include a Novak-style adjustable rear sight with fiber-optic front sight, skeletonized hammer, combat trigger, enhanced beavertail grip safety, flared/lowered ejection port, extended safety and beveled mag well (metroarms.com).
Beretta Model 92FS Compact L Pistol
So new it’s not on the website, the Beretta 92FS Compact in 9mm has a shorter 4.0-inch barrel, plus the original’s 5.4-inch height has been reduced over an inch, cutting down cartridge capacity, but aiding in concealability. It’s available in a Burniton TM finish as well as Inox with a bead-blasted stainless slide and a matching anodized alloy frame. The open-top slide virtually eliminates jams and stove-piping, and it has a SA/DA action, ambi-safety/hammer drop, reversible mag release, fixed sights and black checkered plastic grips (berettausa.com).
