The mighty SNAFU blog acquired this image of what looks to be a Navy sailor rockin’ an M-60E4.

Blogger Solomon says:

If I’m seeing it right, it looks like an M-60E4.

The Navy Seals and US Marines both ditched that weapon years ago and now we see it again. Does anyone have an visibility on how or why its in the regular Navy’s inventory and how many there are?

So, can any of you readers shed some light on this picture and weaponry?

its recent, since the navy working uniform was released somewhere in 2009. the m60’s are used on submarines and some other ships as defense/scare gun against pirates and other treats. Its cheaper to give them these then (new) m240’s

hard to tell how recent it is, but its definitely an M60
