Just purchased one today at a show, took it home and I am in love with this little beauty. The porting is a must have, very little recoil and wonderful to hold and carry. Let my wife shoot it a few rounds also, I now no longer have it now, she took imediately from me. She fired several rounds today thru it and was right on target. Most likely changing grips to the crimson trace very soon for her. But it is a bit loud the neigbors said HAHA.

Highly concealable, but quite a kick due to its light weight.

The front site on mine is indeed a night site. Terrific gun. Way more shootable than the regular 42’s.

Cal just in case you haven’t figuired it out yet. The ported barrel reduces recoil for faster follow uo shots. Also whom ever asked the front sight is only a white dot like any other. It does not glow. Yes you can have a night sight installed if you feel you need it.Most likely you will never need any sights on a gun like this.

I just got one and I love it. Very nice smooth trigger pull. Easy to see front sight.I can hit 9 ring or better every shot out to 21 feet. Worth every dollar.

Just purchased; I’m going to pick it up on Tues. I too will be replacing the synthetic grips with Rosewood for concealed carry. Dealer couldn’t even help me with my question on the front site: Does it glow/considered a night sight? Can it be replaced with Tritium, etc.?

Whay does this gun have a port & what does it accomplish?

  • Cal

Just purchased this item. My hands are large so I am going to change the grip to a rosewood rounded grip to see if that helps stabilize the gun. Has a lot of pop to it. So far pleased with the size especially for concealment. Hope it’s still as concealable with the new grips. If anyone can give suggestions to a novice, please help!
    Thanks.

I just obtained a model 642 with the power port and find it a dream to use. I have a model 37 which I have carried for years, but the newer 642 will be taking the place of this old friend. I find that the 642 is easy to shoot, the white insert on the front sight is quick to pickup, and the accuracy is good too. Even shooting the 642 with +P ammo is easy and a fun experience.
