111908dfn_cougar.gifLONDON – Two U.S. manufacturers have been named preferred bidders to supply two armored support truck vehicles to British forces in Afghanistan.  In addition to those two supply type vehicles, the manufacturing contract of a third vehicle was given to a local British company.  The British are amping up their vehicle support by purchasing more than 400 tactical support vehicles as part of a $524.9 million procurement effort to better protect their troops from Taliban militants in southern Afghanistan.  The two companies that won the bids are Navistar Defense, who will supply its International MXT-MVA vehicle, and Force Protection, who will offer a flatbed version of its six-wheel-drive Cougar mine-protected vehicle.
