New For 2016: Brownells’ Own AR-15/M16A1 Receivers

Designed in conjunction with Nodak Spud, Brownells has built its own upper and lower receivers based on the classic M16A1 of the US military.

Brownells has been offering AR-15 components for years, and now the company has designed and built its own upper and lower receivers based on the classic M16A1 of the U.S. military.

Designed in conjunction with Nodak Spud, the BRN-16A1 Lower Receiver matches the features of the original M16A1 receiver. Perfect for a “retro” or reproduction build, these lowers precisely mirror the original profile.

Features specific to the BRN-16A1 Lower Receiver are the proper M16A1 front takedown lug profile as well as the profile surrounding the receiver extension. Most forged lower receivers produced today feature “A2” profiles, which are incorrect for M16A1 reproduction builds.

The lower starts off as a 7075-T6 aluminum forging, then is machined to mil-spec dimensions. Once machined, the lower is finished with a matte black hardcoat anodized finish.

The Brownells Upper Receiver matches the features of the original M16A1 receiver, with an A1 rear sight housing and the proper carry handle contours. You’ll also notice the lack of a shell deflector. The upper starts off as a 7075-T6 aluminum forging that is machined to mil-spec dimensions before being hardcoat anodized.
