Nightforce has announced a new Velocity™ reticle designed for precise shot placement to 1000 yards. The 1000 yard Velocity™ reticle will be available mid-2011 in Nightforce 5.5-22x NXS riflescopes, followed in the 3.5-15x NXS models.

The Velocity™ 1000 reticle is clearly marked in 100 yard increments to 400 yards, then in 25 yard increments to 1000 yards. Windage compensation is also marked in 5, 10 and 15 mph increments. Five reticle configurations will be offered, corresponding to virtually any modern flat-shooting rifle cartridge.

The Nightforce online Velocity™ reticle calculator allows the shooter to enter their bullet’s weight, ballistic coefficient, and their load’s muzzle velocity. It then specifies the Velocity™ reticle that most closely matches their ballistics. A recommended sight-in distance is also given, which will result in the optimum trajectory across the entire 1000-yard range while minimizing point-of-impact deviation.

Once sighted in accordingly, when the distance to target is known, the shooter merely holds dead on using the appropriate mark on the reticle. There is no guessing at holdover, no elevation adjustment, no complicated calculations or fumbling with drop charts in the field. The Velocity™ reticles provide a lightning-quick solution for hunters and for any shooter for whom time is of the essence.

The Velocity™ 1000 reticle is also available as the LV.5 in the Nightforce 3.5-15×50 F1 NXS first focal plane scope.

Nightforce Velocity™ reticles are the ultimate combination of a ballistic and hunting reticle. Clean, uncluttered and simple, they are the answer for hunters and long-range shooters who have resisted more complicated, cumbersome “ballistic” reticle designs, yet want precise shot placement at long distances with maximum speed and ease of use. Because they are so closely matched to a specific cartridge and velocity, Nightforce Velocity™ reticles are vastly more precise than “one-size-fits-all” designs many manufacturers promote. All Nightforce NXS riflescopes also provide reticle illumination as standard.

  • I agree with Bruce, What a great Video. It was great to see how the guns are built and great to hear that this is not going to be Ruger’s only venture into the 1911 market. I can not wait to get my hands on one. Sure would like to see Ruger do an Alumimun Frame Commander style.
