I imagine many of you, like me, are unlikely to afford to carry a $200 or $300 knife. Duty knives get used. They get carried in all conditions, nicked up, scratched up, broken and lost. Someone will ask, “Well, what’s your life worth?” A fair question, but hardly to the point when Bobby needs braces, Brenda needs school books, the spouse needs work clothes or a newer car. Sometimes you have to go with what you can get.

extemeops.jpgCheap knives are seldom a good idea in any event. The cheaper they are, the shoddier the workmanship and cheaper the steels. They can be unsafe. It’s good to go with a low-cost line from a big maker. In that way, you often get more than your money’s worth.

i’ve owned several s&w knives over the last few years. still have a couple. gave the rest to my sons. they are some of the best knives you can get for the price. if you’re on a budget and need a good knife get a s&w.
