MOSSBERG’s JIC 500 Pump-Action 12GA

I have always been a fan of the tang-mounted safety that Mossberg makes standard on their shotguns, as I like the idea of having the button in my field of view. With all the new tactical weapons that Mossberg had, their “Just In Case” line of shotguns caught my eye. The heart of the JIC package is the venerable 12 gauge Mossberg 500 Pump-Action.

Fitted with a compact 18.5-inch barrel and rugged synthetic pistol grip and forearm, it’s offered in your choice of the blued Cruiser model, the Mariner, or the Sandstorm featuring their proprietary silver-colored Marinecote finish for use in and around harsh marine environments. Each is sealed in a resealable clear bag and is packaged in a heavy-duty, waterproof synthetic carrying-tube complete with resealable top and nylon carrying strap. You’ll also find convenient accessories including the waterproof ‘Survival Kit-In-A-Can’ (Cruiser model), or the durable multi-tool and serrated lock-back knife combo pack with cordura case (Mariner model).

While I am not a fan of pistol grip-only shotguns, I understand what Mossberg is trying to do here. Trying to contain the gun inside a waterproof package and keeping the gun as small as possible makes a great deal of sense. This package may very well be the ultimate “tuck away” gun for those times when nothing else will do.

Those pistol grip 12 gauge riot guns are hard on your hand…after 4-5 shot’s, your shooting hand becomes sore. I changed mine out to a collapsable stock.

well greg have you tried a pachmayr pistol grip they work outstanding to take some of that sting off and for that in my eyes that alone makes them worth it add to the fact they let you get a good grip and keep ahold of that beast why not give them a try but the collapsible stock idea is good as well
