.35-300 Magnum Tactical Precision Rifle

Boasting more punch than a .300 Magnum, no more recoil than a .30-06!

In recent years, more and more tactical precision rifle shooters have become dissatisfied with traditional cartridge performance and are searching for something better. Indeed, at ranges past 400 meters, their loss of velocity and energy is so pronounced that terminal ballistic capability is quickly reduced to something akin to a handgun.

sniper-pro2.gifIn addition, even at ranges inside 400 meters, some traditional cartridges demonstrate less than satisfactory penetration through intermediary obstacles such as window glass, light vegetation or automobile bodywork.

The problem is a tough one to solve, because in order to increase the power of the cartridge used, another element begins to come into play…recoil. Few can withstand the pounding of the more potent calibers and this is one major reason why cartridges like the .308 remain popular. Putting it in another way, they’re regarded as being about the most potent cartridge the average rifleman can handle.

Which is the superior rifle? The 358 Taylor or the 35-300?

If both rifles are similar, what is felt recoil comparison on both rifles? One has a muzzlebrake, the other doesn’t.

Looking for advise on this caliber b/c I am building a 35 caliber Wildcat. Please send research info regarding both calibers.

    Good Day & Good Shooting

I can see the idea of a 35/300 and currently I am working on a long range 358 Winchester. Right now to my knowledge there is not any match grade 35 cal bullets made and the biggest is the 338 with match grade bullets.
In the interim I am going to be playing with sub sonic cast bullets in the 358 when the barrel arrives (27″). Also have reamer for 35 Whelen and a 35/300 would be easy to fab as well. Another problem I see is where will the loading dies come from for the cartridge in question?
