Augusta Toy Run Benefits Georgia Military Families

The 14th annual Augusta Toy Run in support of military families pulled in 370 riders this year.

The 14th annual Augusta Toy Run, a police-escorted ride that started at the Augusta Museum of History and ended at the Southeastern Paralyzed Veterans of America chapter in Hephzibah, Georgia on the afternoon of Sunday, Dec. 1, had around 370 riders this year in support of military families.

Larry Dodson, the vice president of the veterans group and the event’s founder, said five pick-up truck beds filled with donated toys were collected and $800 was raised to benefit Fort Gordon’s Christmas House.

In its first year, Dodson said 43 people attended and he is happy with the event’s growth.
