ACCOKEEK, MD— Beretta USA is pleased to announce that deliveries for the introduction of the most advanced Sub-Compact sidearm of its kind – the Px4 Storm Sub-Compact pistol will begin June 1, 2008.  Built around Beretta’s latest Px4 Storm modular technology, the Px4 Storm Sub-Compact delivers concealed carry handling with large frame firepower.

This new firearm is available in two calibers, 9mm with 13 round magazine capacity and .40 S&W with 10 round magazine capacity.  The Px4 Storm Sub-Compact will eventually be available in all the traditional configurations (F, G, C, D actions) that have made its Px4 Storm full-size counterpart a preferred choice of Law Enforcement agencies and civilians across the United States. This new pistol uses a very reliable locked breech, providing a more compact and lighter weight system.  Additionally, the Px4 Storm Sub-Compact utilizes a stainless steel barrel which requires less maintenance and is corrosion resistant, making it perfectly suited for concealment close to active perspiring bodies.

“We know that our customers have been very anxious to get this new Px4 Sub-Compact model into their inventory.  Beretta is now very pleased to be able to fulfill that request,” said Gabriele DePlano, Vice President of Product Development at Beretta USA.

Hailed by some as the most accurate Sub-Compact pistol on the market, the Px4 Storm Sub-Compact offers absolute reliability and consistent accuracy in a small package. Featuring a Picatinny rail to fit light and laser accessories, the Px4 Storm Sub-Compact also adapts to different hand sizes easily with interchangeable backstraps that are included with each firearm. The magazine’s patented “Snap-Grip” allows for maximum concealability when the firearm is holstered, while providing a comfortable and secure grip when the pistol is being fired. An ambidextrous manual safety, ideally positioned on both sides of the slide for easy access by all shooters, and a low-profile slide catch complete this small yet powerful package. Additionally, a reversible magazine release button, in small or large size, can be mounted on either side for the convenience of the operator. The Px4 Storm Sub-Compact was designed by Beretta USA and will be manufactured in the United States at Beretta USA’s Accokeek, MD facility.

Sorry it took so long for range report for sub .40. Only 75 rounds today but no ftf’s. Very light recoil for sub. Fired Winchester 115g FMJ. Tight groupings. Added a Slip on grooved hogue grip which I think is a must. Also the mag with the pinky rest also a must. This is a must have gun. Some think it is far to bulky for cc but fits just right. I use a smart carry holster. Perfect. 3 backstraps included which was nice. A+++. Good shooting all.

Ordered mine in .40 over 3 years ago and still no sign of it. Maybe it has to do with where I am on the west coast in Oregon. I have been talking with several dealers not just the one I have it on order and no one has seen one yet. Thinking about going with the m&p compact .40

  • Jonny B

Put 250 Rounds through mine 1 after the other, no jambs nothing fell off and didnt even hardly get warm, this gun is awsome and worth the wait , well not worth waithing that long lol

  • Mani

    Beretta PX4 SC .40 S&W
I picked mine up today, it was a long wait though. I think I was lucky to find one. I bought mine from thegunsource.com, I paid 516.99 + 19.99 for shipping, it took 7 days for it to be shipped, but I got it at last. I am excited to shoot mine this weekend, I am going to put at least 150 rounds through it. We’ll see how that goes!!!

  • Jim S

FINALLY! Picked mine up today. Ordered it from Able’s for $478.00 + $28.00 for overnight UPS. Slowly, but surely they’re starting to come in. Nice looking little gun, feels good in the hand. Going to break it in this weekend.

  • Mark

Currently, we are being told October 2010 will be the release date.

    Best regards,

    Customer (*********) – 09/03/2010 12:37 AM
I am glad to see that the offer for a free mag has expired before I have received my px4 storm sub in .40 that I have ordered 2.5 years ago! Thanks again Beretta for the great service! So when is it being pushed back to now? October, November or another year or two?

  • Joe

Just called my local gun store and the guy told me that a small number of the .40 subcompacts have been released, but their was some kind of recall with them….The waiting game continues…

  • scott

Just got this after having mine on order since Feb 08, not sure if he means sept or just 2010.

Thank you for contacting Beretta Customer Support.

I just got an e-mail from the powers that be saying SET 2010. Keep your fingers crossed.

    Best regards,

    Beretta Customer Support

  • Joe

Uggggh here we go again with Beretta pushing back the release date. This is the
Reply I just got moments ago via email from Beretta: Hello Joe:

Thank you for contacting Beretta Customer Support.

As of this morning the release date is Sep 1010.

    Best regards,

    Beretta Customer Support.

So if thats true everyone since Julius Caesar should already have a px4 subcompact .40 right???? 🙂

  • Mark

Go figure. They had a computer glitch which had it labeled in stock and even sent me an email when it came on for sale. They since have canceled the order. Called Beretta and they apologized and stated that the sales reps keep getting different dates. The most recent now is Sept. I know it will come out eventually after military orders slow but wow what a botch job on the customer service end. I have tested other subs and just don’t like the feel at all of the others even the Springfield. I ight have to settle for the 9mm.

  • Mark

Yah Joe I made sure to ask when I called. I even told the guy that I was shocked it was out. They forgot to put “Sub” in. The model # is what I focused on and cal. I might call agian tomorrow when I mail the FFL info to them and ask how many they had or will get. We shall see.

  • Joe

Hey Mark, the pic at ables shows the SUBCOMPACT,but the description according to the link you provided says:Beretta Px4 Storm Double/Single Action Compact Pistol JXS4F20, 40 S&W, 3″, Polymer Grip, Black Matte Finish, 10 Rd……Says COMPACT,I don’t know if that was a typo on ables part or what, but I just called my local gunstore guy and he said the last he heard about 2 weeks ago was that the subcompact .40 hasn’t even been made yet, mine is still on back order…..I understand a big military order takes precedence but at the very least I wish Beretta would stop with the new release dates and give us something accurate!

  • Mark

I got it. Called Abel’s and asked how they got it and no one else has it. He did mention Beretta’s military order was priority but they did receive some. When I went back they were already out. I’ll let you all know when I get it in hand and put a range report on etc… It was a great price to. $509 and after taxes and Transfer fee I’m looking at about $550. Keep checking Abel’s and have them email you when it comes in and jump on line quick. That’s what I did and 15 minutes later they were gone.

  • Mark

Unless I’m dreaming. On sale at abbles. I just placed my order. Confirmation confirmed. Waiting for email to give FFL info for delivery. Here is the link.

  • Jim S

So, if the last post is correct & Beretta has to fill 300,000 military orders, we might not see the .40S&W sub until the end of the year! (Sigh!) I also noticed on the BerettaUSA website that they don’t show the “available in June 2010” notice at the bottom of the page anymore for the .40S&W. You would think that Beretta could manufacture more than one gun at at time! Sheesh!

  • jjslim

The true reason why Beretta hasn’t delivered that subcompact 40 yet is because they had to put the production on hold in order to fill a US Military order of over 300,000 pieces. They literally stopped everything in order to complete the US military order.

  • jonny b

Yeah Kev is Right Ha Ha HA if u paid already would u buy a car with out going to the lot and picking it out. im moveing on cause i dont believe in ghosts.. i aint afraid of no ghost……40 cal what? who

  • Kev

Listen to yourself guys. Go get another 40 cal now before something else happens and guns price goes up or ammo. Now we all know about getting lead on by some car salesman, and that’s what Berretta is doing to you puppets. This gun is a ghost story The co released how long ago. and it never is coming out this Summer or Fall. Move on suckers it ain’t all that if it don’t exsist.

If you paid for it already ha ha

  • jonny b

Thank you for contacting Beretta Customer Support.

I think I can answer that question even though I had the translate your form of the English language and punctuation.

The word we had was the last week in June, first week in July. The reason the .40 sub compact has taken so long is because there was no production time available.

Best regards,….this is the message i got back and what i wrote was clear enoug what a bunch of smart asses F!@k Ya’ll

  • jonny b

all i wanna no is where in the hell is the Px4 storm subcompact in 40 SW this wait is ridiculous June u said here it is the 17th what u going to push to next 2100 ur gonna lose a lot of customers over this failed public relation i guarantee

  • Joe

Yeah I hear ya Mark, this whole “waiting period” with Beretta for the .40 subcompact is beyond ridiculous at this point.Pushin back release times over and over again, but I will wait for it and hopefully it will come within my 4-6 week “waiting period” ha ha….if not I still have my 92fs to keep me company along with my .50 S&W…..LET’S GET THE “LEAD” OUT BERETTA!

  • Mark

Sorry jumped the gun. This page I showed was for the compact .40 to be released in 2011 not the Sub .40. Still not released in June though. We shall see.

  • Mark

Well folks Springfield .40 XD Sub here I come. Have a nice day Beretta. I have been a huge fan but the way in which the handled this is extremely poor. See link below where the company posted it.

    http://www.berettausa.com/products/px4-storm-compact/

  • Joe

Ordered my px4 subcompact .40 today…Beretta site said June 2010 so I will repost when I get it!!! Guy at the local gunstore said they are on backorder so I would allow 4-6 weeks,in my opinion to get it….If not I will be pissed!Dont fail me now Beretta, cuz Wi is hopefully gonna get the right guy in the Governors mansion come november and hopefully passes a cc law….we need it!!

  • jonny b

ok its June lets see what happens ,im with mark if not this month im going Springfield .40

  • Mark

I’m with you all on this one. I have been waiting for 1 year+. I love all my Beretta’s but they have really messed this one up with their loyal owners. I’ll be getting the Springfield Sub .40 which my friends love if June is not the release date for the Px4. They have missed out on some serious sales. Must me nice to run a biz like this and still make a killing.

  • jonny b

Ok so june now thats cool ,but for those of us waiting will that be june 1st ? june 29th what june 2100 lol How long is this going to go on ? last time i went to buy this gun in feb 2010 i ended up with a thompson 1927 a1 sub michaine gun for about 200 more than this sub compact ,now i all ways wanted one of these as well but hell i aint waiting for 25 years lol

  • jonny b

Ok here it is past first quater of 2010 and still no Beretta Subcompact .40 cal i emailed Beretta and they told me middle of year now and their site says the same ,i have to say this song and dance is getting very old.

  • Joe

    http://www.berettausa.com/products/px4-storm-type-f-sub-compact/

    Says June 2010 for px4 subcompact .40 type F

  • Do I keep waiting for the 40 or settle for the 9mm, or do I purchase a 40 from another dealer?

  • Draper

I need a subcompact and want the Beretta 40 but am tired of waiting. If they are not going to ship them they need to let the sustomer know so we can buy another brand like S&W.

  • kevin

bet they never even come out with the 40 cal sub compact px4 storm. If we have been waiting this long thats prob a clue that it have some problems. I was waiting for this hand gun for ever, just cause i love my 9. I had to move o,n and buy another 40cal; sure did want this one bad at one time, but I could not hold on and wait any more after getting my CHL. 🙁 They need to get their act together; crap or get of the pot. This disappointed me that i had to settle.

  • earl chambers

I have the 9mm sub compact and it has not jammed to date. I have fed it american eagle 124gr, Winchester 115gr fmj. About 200 rounds so far. Just make sure you clean the packing grease out with some bore solvent. Very accurate pistol for a 3 inch barrel. I now have the 45 on layaway with night sights.

  • Ryan
  • Scott

That is true but they started advertising these for sale well after we had been at war. Also I don’t think very many guys will have a use for a subcompact .40 over there. As well as the fact that I have had no problems getting guns from all the other brands that supply the military. I’m not saying that might not be a factor but a 3 year wait on a gun is more than ridiculous.

  • Ms Lori Love

Apparently there are many of you who are rather pissed about the backorder status of this very sexy (if I must say so myself) pistol. But let’s not forget fella’s this is the manufacturer of the official handgun of our Armed Forces and we are in the midst of a very long war. Suffice it to say they would be a bit back logged in public distribution. In any case, its worth the wait..xo

  • scott

Ordered mine in .40 over two years ago. Beretta says they are shipping early this year, I said well what does early this year mean? Jan, Feb? They stuck with their “Early this year” timeframe. Good job beretta good customer service is not important when you make guns I guess.

  • Roy

Bought my PX4 sub 9mm today… pick up Tuesday. Talked to Beretta and was told that military commitments required them to shut down consumer production. Not going to wait till mid year for a 40cal… and that’s just a maybe if other military commitments dont get in the way.

  • Randy

Back in early November, Atlantic Tactical showed the .40 cal on their web site. So I asked if it was in stock – and the reply was:

We do not currently have this item in stock. Our last update from the manufacturer is Decemeber, although the eta has changed before. We do suggest that if you want this weapon that you order it now (all orders are prepaid) that way when it becomes available one will be sent to you and you won’t have to wait for the next shipment. Thank you.

Again in Early December Atlantic was still showing the .40 cal available on the web site – so again I asked if it was in stock – check out the “New” answer – now it’s restricted?

We do not currently have stock in this item. We have several on order and are waiting for the manufacturer to release the item. Our latest update is January, although we cannot confirm that is a firm time frame. Please note, the sale of this item is restricted to law enforcement only. Thank you.

I’m not sure why my last comment did not post but here goes again. The current Shooter’s Bible 101st Edition shows that the Beretta PX4 Storm sub-compact has been discontinued (Page 307). Can anyone confirm this or shed any light on what’s going on?

  • Ric

The new version of the Shooter’s Bible 101st Edition (Page 307) shows that the Beretta PX4 Subcompact is discontinued. Can anyone confirm this or have any other info about it?

  • Ryan

Well… contacted Beretta AGAIN for about the 10th time or so now… their official response to my question of “Do you have any intention whatsoever to ever ship the PX4 Storm Sub-compact chambered in .40 was the following…

“Currently, Beretta intends to start shipping the .40 cal Px4 Sub-Compact pistols commencing in 1st Quarter of 2010.”

Yep, we’ve all heard this tune before… maybe they’ll come thru on their commitment, and only 18 months from their original commitment!

  • Dan

Any word if they’ve shipped out any of the .40 subs yet?

  • Shot my friends sub Px4 in the 40 cal…….

I need to buy this gun…… TERRIFIC !!

  • Ric

Beretta’s lack of response to potential customers trying to buy their sub-compact reflects very poorly on how they run the business. The least they could do is make a press release on the exact time frame the sub-compact is going to be released. This has gone on way too long.

  • scott

goin on 2 years now on order and they still have no idea when it will be in

  • What the heck is going on with these guns ? You you cant find them anywhere ? Did they discontinue them ? Beretta sucks azz

  • tamsen

how frickin long am i gonna gave to wait for this gat to be available for me to buy, this is heinous!!

  • Frank Edwards

I have had the .40 PX4 about a year and I have a .40 cal sub-compact on order. I’ve put about 300 rounds through the one I’ve had without a jam or problem. When I get a new firearm, I check it thoroughly-read the manual and take it apart. In reassembly I make sure everything is working and tight.

I also never assume that the dealership changed the oil in my car until I check before leaving the dealership.

  • scott

Anytime now beretta! Bad service from a top gun maker………if I ever do get my .40 I hope nothing goes wrong with it or it would take another 3 years to get it fixed.

  • chad

i held this gun yesterday, you better have small hands to fire this weapon, it appears it will slide bite the hell outta ya!

  • Rob Fraley

I recieved my px4 subcompact from gander mountain in april. After about 200 rounds the front site fell off and it started doing 2 round bursts. It has been shipped back to beretta. Still waiting for a replacemnt.

  • Mike

I just got off the phone with Beretta, and they said the Px4 Storm Subcompact .40 would be released in Sept/Oct 2009.

    Thank goodness…I’m tired of waiting!

  • Ryan

Placed my order for this sub compact chambered in .40 about 7 months ago… still waiting. Any idea approx. when we can expect these pistols to be available? Multiple attempts to contact Beretta have failed miserably as they don’t seem to care to respond to emails or give me any form of straight answer on the phone… probably will be my last Beretta – if I ever get it.

  • Bob Kane

I bought the PX4 storm in the 9MM and I loved it so much that when they got a .45 in, I had to go and buy that too. It is the same size as the 9MM and it shoots just as good. If you get a chance, try one. I think you will agree, Beretta hit a bulls eye on this one.

  • Richard Kotosky

when will you have a laser sight for my beretta px4 storm sub-compact 9mm?

  • Scott

Arrgg. Feb 20th ordered my sub .40 over a year ago…..Still no Idea when they might get it in.

  • Kent Vanattia

I’ll believe it when I put my hands on one. Been looking for a sub in 40 cal. for a year.

  • gary murray

you know ive been looking to buy the sub compact for at least a year, now its jan,16;2009 none i have been told by a dozen different stores can get them and the article says avaiable june of 2008.this whole buisiness is a joke they advertise two years on this weapon and nothing.

  • I recently purchased the Beretta 9MM PX4 Storm. Can you advise when the .40 cal will be out and available for purchase?

Can you advise when magazines for both the 9mm and 40 will be available?

    Thank you,
    Jack Rogers
    Salem, OR.

  • Bill Arnett

when will the .40 cal px4 storm subcompact begin to be shipped.

    tnx Bill Arnett
