CHICAGO – On Saturday, Chicago Police gang and tactical officers from across the city will meet to learn about the best ways to anticipate gang organizations and activity. At least 80 gangs and an estimated 75,000 members deal drugs in Chicago and use illegally owned guns to protect their territory and business. The summit held on Saturday follows Police Supt. Jody Weis’ creation of a position in which a gang commander will lead department efforts and fine-tune intelligence gathering.
