New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo is vowing to introduce new gun control laws in the wake of two mass shootings in as many weeks.

“The gun violence has reached an undeniable point,” Cuomo said. “It’s hard for anyone to refute the damage that’s being done.

“It’s time to find out what else we can do,” the Democrat added during a press conference on Tuesday. “We have a number of legislative proposals that I think we’ll be taking up in the next legislative session.”

New York already has some of the toughest gun laws in the country and Independent New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg is a strong advocate of tightening them still stronger. He signaled on Tuesday that he is eager to work with Cuomo.

the “the damage that’s being done” will go on because the courts are not putting the law breakers in jail. it’s easier to let the offender go free then to do the paper work. I’ve said it before, enforce the laws in the books now. put the criminals aways, stop this bullshit of negotiating for shorter sentences. criminal enjoy these short term sentences where they can get a free health physical, free dental, and a free room and broad for a short little vacation

Screw New York then. Seriously. I like the city but I’ll never spend a dime of my money there and everybody knows those stupid laws don’t work. There are armed criminals all over New York and the police can’t protect everyone. So screw New York and Cuomo and Bloomberg. I’m glad I live in Ky where we are still allowed to defend ourselves form criminals.

  • In New York State, the police have no duty to provide police protection to any particular individual. The Courts in New York have held that “generally, a municipality may not be held liable for the failure to provide police protection because the duty to provide such protection is owed to the public at large, rather than to any particular individual” (Conde v. City of New York, 24 AD3d 595, 596 [2005]; see Cuffy v. City of New York, 69 NY2d 255, 260 [1987]).

As the Chair of the Public Safety Committee of Manhattan Community Board 12. I will be holding a Public Hearing in September 2012 on NYS Senate Bill S1427 & S1863 with an emphasis on self-defense education & firearm training for women.

Bill S1427 PURPOSE: This proposed constitutional amendment would provide within the New York State Constitution for a right of the people to keep and bear arms for traditionally recognized purposes

Bill S1863 PURPOSE: This legislation would remove a gun licensing officer’s ability to deny or restrict the issuance of licenses to law abiding citizens who have successfully undergone the state’s strict application process and appropriate New York State and Federal Bureau of Investigations fingerprint background check required under law. In addition, this bill will conform New York State law to current ATF requirements regarding background checks for firearms transfers.

September 12, 2012 at 6:30 PM at Isabella, 515 Audubon Avenue New York, NY 10040. If you live in New York State feel free to take a look at the information that I will be presenting as well as sign my on-line petition included at the link below. I hope that you will come out and support me as I support you. Fraternally.

He has been bought and paid for by Bloomberg.
They never learn. Guns don’t kill people, people kill people.
I’m glad I live in Florida.

we have some of the New york state, especially NYC strictest guns law and procedures in the US and still the thugs have all the guns. Sometimes they have better quality guns I can’t affort. Stop and frisk and you will hit the mother load. If you band guns like drugs are today, the availability of guns will be better. Right! we are doing so well with drug laws, why not add some guns laws to put more people in prisons. We already have the laws in place…..use them!

  • Dan LaBarge

Maybe if the liberal judges would punish for gun law violations instead of letting everyone walk we wouldn’t need new laws. Just enforce the ones we have.

  • Mr. Blue

I’m glad I no longer live there. Ridiculous!

  • Pretty soon they will be going door to door takin our guns and high capacity magazines away that were not supposed to have.
