General Giap, who organized Vietnamese military opposition to the French and the Americans over three decades of devastating warfare, is dead.

General Giap, the military commander and national folk hero who organized Vietnamese military opposition to the French and the Americans over three decades of devastating warfare, is dead.

Vo Nguyen Giap died Oct. 4 in a hospital in Hanoi, a government official told the Associated Press. He was 102.
