Hartford, CT to discuss results of Shooting Task Force’s first year on the street.

The task force was created July 5, 2011, in response to escalating gun violence in Hartford. According to the most recent statistics available from the city’s police department, homicides are down 40 percent over the number recorded at this point last year.

During the last year, the number of shooting task force members has increased from 21 to more than 35, according to city documents.

It is composed of 14 members of the Hartford Police Department, 10 employees of the chief state’s attorney’s office, two employees from the state’s correction department, two state troopers, two prosecutors from the Hartford state’s attorney’s office, one prosecutor from the Waterbury state’s attorney’s office, one detective each from the East Hartford, West Hartford and Manchester police departments, one adult probation officer from the state’s judicial department and one special agent from the federal drug enforcement administration.
