Quick-thinking NYPD cops lifted a taxi off a man who was run over in the South Bronx early Sunday.
Rico Elias, 52, was dozing off in his third-floor bedroom on E.138 Street near Brown Place at around 2:00 a.m. when he heard the cab slam into something and screech to a halt.
“When I looked out, I saw his feet under the car,” Elias, who also drives a cab, told the Daily News. “I didn’t think he was going to live, not when I saw all that blood.”
After police arrived, nearly a dozen cops gathered at the rear of the car and lifted it so rescue workers could drag the man out.
