Kalamazoo County Sheriff Richard Fuller announced Tuesday his office has been awarded a $9,630 grant from the National Emergency Medicine Association to purchase fully equipped Tactical Trauma Law Enforcement Medical Kits for his deputies’ patrol vehicles.

The grant award will be presented to the Kalamazoo County Board of Commissioners for acceptance in November.

“We are continually working to keep our deputies safe and provide them with all the equipment necessary to survive a violent incident,” Sheriff Fuller said in a news release.

The sheriff’s office had introduced Field Trauma Training to its officers in fall 2011.
