A Pickens County, S. Carolina  man was sentenced Monday to almost 18 years in prison by a jury on first-degree burglary charge.

Prosecutors presented evidence that showed Lane entered a Liberty residence on April 21, 2011 and stole some of the victim’s firearms from a gun safe. They said some of the weapons were family heirlooms used in World War I and II.

A neighbor saw the suspect’s vehicle in the driveway and deputies said Lane dropped his application card for unemployment benefits inside the victim’s car, according to Wilkins.
