VIDEO: Marines Clear Out MOUT Town During Training

Training for MOUT (military operations in urban terrain), 2nd MARDIV recently cleared an entire town at Fort Pickett in Virginia.

Military operations in urban terrain (MOUT) exercises are incredibly important to a Marine’s real-world training.

Marines with Alpha Company, 1st Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, conducted MOUT training at Fort Pickett, Va., Aug. 17, 2016. The event was part of a deployment training exercise, preparing the Marines for potential real-world crisis scenarios.

“For the most part is just getting the fundamental, the individual skills — room clearing, clearing hallways, and going up stairs,” 1st Lt. William C. Vivian, Executive Officer of 1/2 Alpha Company, said regarding the MOUT training.
