An ominous television ad commissioned by Mayor Bloomberg will soon blanket the airwaves – warning that Al Qaeda could exploit the so-called “gunshow loophole.”

Bloomberg’s anti-gun alliance raises the alar that terror thugs may be trying to buy powerful firearms within the U.S.

The 30-second ad, which debuts Tuesday, uses images from a June 3 video released by Al Qaeda that features its American-born spokesman Azzam Al-Amriki urging would-be jihadists to obtain their guns here.

“You can go down to a gun show and come away with a fully-automatic assault rifle without a background check,” Al-Amriki said on the terror tape. “So what are you waiting for?”

“Simply because terrorists abuse our liberties doesn’t mean that we should limit the rights of law-abiding Americans,” Rep. Lamar Smith (R-Texas), the chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, told the congressional newspaper The Hill after Al-Amriki’s video first emerged.

    A) Arguably, Al Qaeda and many other hate & terror organizations do far worse to threaten US safety, grow their base and incite violence, through free speech then with firearms’, but we don’t look to abolish the 1st ammendment at every opportunity.

    B) This is why all the current gun laws or proposed gun legislation is so ineffective, trivial and irrelevant. Because those with an anti-gun, anti-2nd ammendment agenda are completely ignorant of the facts, and know little to nothing about firearms.

We can’t expect reasonable firearms legislation from people who generate law from a place of fear.

I wanna go to such gunshows if that’s the case, damn we’ve been missing out!

“You can go down to a gun show and come away with a fully-automatic assault rifle without a background check,”

What gunshows are they talking about? Even if I agreed with Bloomberg that is so factually incorrect. The same people who’d do that would just as easily and willingly sell it to you down some dark alley. This obvious fear mongering meant to play off people’s ignorance of existing class 3 firearm purchasing laws and make the “loophole” seem like you could drive an 18-wheeler through it.
