Mexico’s ambassador to the United States said his country will do everything it can to apprehend those who shot two U.S. immigration agents this week, killing one of them.

“Mexican law enforcement authorities and the Mexican government will do anything and everything in their power to find these individuals and swiftly bring them to justice,” Ambassador Arturo Sarukhan said Wednesday.

His pledge came as the United States announced the formation of a joint task force to investigate Tuesday’s shootings in Mexico.

The announcement came after Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano met with Attorney General Eric Holder on Wednesday to discuss the attack on the two U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement special agents.

The FBI will lead the task force, composed of Justice and Homeland Security investigators.

Maybe the Mexican government will also find and prosecute the BATFE agents and managers who have been enabling straw purchases to pad their statistics.

The same straw purchases that resulted in supplying over 700 firearms that they now can’t find to the cartels.

The same straw purchased firearms that were used to murder a Border Patrol Officer in December.
