SAN FRANCISCO – The U.S. Navy agreed to limit sonar used to detect submarines in a federal court settlement Tuesday.  This agreement comes in response to criticism by environmentalists who say the sounds threaten the abilities of whales and other marine mammals to find food and avoid predators.  The Navy and the environmentalists who filed the suit is satisfied with the settlement.
