Northrop Grumman Begins Building NATO Drones

Northrop Grumman has officially begun work on five NATO drones at their Unmanned Systems Center in Moss Point, Mississippi.

Northrop Grumman has officially begun work on five NATO drones at their Unmanned Systems Center in Moss Point, Mississippi, a year and a half after securing a $1.7 billion contract for the project.

“Operations in Libya and Afghanistan and those over the waters off the coast of eastern Africa all prove that there’s a crying need for this type of capability,” said Jim Edge, General Manager of the NATO Alliance Ground Surveillance Management Agency. “We need this capability. Mississippi is making history as far as I’m concerned.”

Northrop’s Block 40 Global Hawk drones are the model for the new NATO drones, which will come equipped with an advanced ground surveillance radar sensor.
