By the end of the week, guns could be banned from Oregon university campuses.

The State Board of Higher Education is expected to approve the new policy this Friday.

In September the courts upheld the right of students and faculty with concealed weapons permits to bear arms. But it also gave the board the authority to control its property, giving it the power to put a no go on guns.

Some University of Oregon students were surprised to learn right now students can carry certain types of guns with conceal carry permits.

The state board’s proposed policy would make it so people would agree not to carry guns if they wanted to do any business on university property.
