The House Oversight Committee will file a civil contempt lawsuit against Attorney General Eric Holder on Monday seeking the release of documents linked to a controversial weapons crackdown, a Republican congressional source said.

Committee chairman Rep. Darrell Issa’s official Twitter account seemed to echo the developments.

“We are filing charges against Attorney General Eric Holder tomorrow,” the post late Sunday said.

The House resolution gave lawmakers the option of filing a lawsuit if the Justice Department declined to file criminal charges against Holder, whom Republican lawmakers accuse of stonewalling an investigation into the “Fast and Furious” weapons tracking program.
