Six law enforcement and emergency services agencies will demonstrate their skills and equipment Saturday at the annual Sheriff’s Family Day.

The free event is set for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the field near the Madonna Inn and Highway 101 in San Luis Obispo.

More than 30 agencies and organizations plan to set up displays, said a spokesman for the County Sheriff’s Advisory Council, which sponsors the event.

Demonstrations will be presented by the Sheriff’s Posse, SWAT teams, canine units, the Bomb Task Force, the California Highway Patrol with its rollover simulator and rescue personnel with the Jaws of Life.

DARE vehicles and the CHP helicopter will be on display, along with a collection of local law enforcement badges stretching back more than a century and antique equipment of all kinds.

Other equipment and information will be on display by the Sheriff’s Aero Squadron, Sheriff’s Search and Rescue and Sheriff’s Dive Team, the spokesman said.

San Luis Ambulance, the U.S. Coast Guard, Cal Fire/County Fire Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration also will have items on display.

Also scheduled to set up displays are the California Law Enforcement Historical Society Police Museum and the Historical Arms Society, the spokesman said.
