MOGADISHU, Somalia – The Saudi supertanker seized by Somali pirates was freed for a $3 million ransom.  The Sirius Star with it’s $100 million cargo was captured in November drawing attention to a surge in piracy off the coast of Somalia and has brought global navies rushing to protect one of the world’s most important shipping lanes. Farah Osman, speaking to Reauters from Haradheere port near where the tanker had been held, said the pirates had wanted more money but finally agreed $3 million for the ship. An unnamed negotiator for the pirates who also the ship had been released.
