The new Italian-made Beretta Px4 Storm pistols will be used by police within the next few months.

Towards this, police personnel are undergoing training with the pistols before they are issued for duty.

The Beretta website has described the Px4 Storm pistol as “the most advanced expression of technological and aesthetic features in a semi-automatic sidearm”.

On April 22 last year, The Malay Mail reported the Storm was selected from several 9mm semi-automatic pistols offered in a tender for 400 handguns which was initially meant for the People’s Volunteer Corps, or Rela.

Rela, however, denied the tender was originally issued for them.

The Storm made its debut at the 2nd General Police and Special Equipment Exhibition and Conference which ended yesterday.

Due to the limited numbers of pistols, most general duty policemen are still armed with the revolvers.
