Teen arrested in alleged Ala. school bomb plot

A teenager who described himself as a white supremacist faced felony charges today of attempted assault for allegedly planning an attack with homemade explosives on fellow students at a high school in Seale, Ala.

Police arrested the 17-year-old after a teacher found a journal left in her class in which he allegedly spelled out the attack on Russell County High School, theColumbus (Ga.)Ledger-Enquirerr reported.

Although the newspaper identified the teenager, USA TODAY does not identify defendants or suspects under the age of 18 unless they are charged as an adult.

Russell County Sheriff Heath Taylor said a search of the teenager’s home on Friday turned up scores of tobacco cans and two large cans — all with holes in them — containing pellets.
