Two Texas men pulled over on Interstate 87 for speeding Tuesday were arrested after the trooper discovered marijuana from inside the car and a handgun on one man’s belt buckle, State Police said Thursday.

According to State Police, 25-year-old Robert Bond of West Tawakoni, TX, was traveling southbound on I-87 in the town of Queensbury when he was stopped for speeding. The state trooper smelled marijuana from inside the vehicle, and recovered four grams of marijuana and a pipe from Bond.

While the trooper was interviewing passenger 32-year-old Jeremy Stead, of Quinlan, TX, he noticed his belt buckle was a handgun, later identified as a Freedom Arms 22-caliber black powder handgun.

Both men were arrested. Bond was issued a traffic ticket for speeding and an appearance ticket for unlawful possession of marijuana.

Stead was arraigned in Queensbury Town Court and remanded to the Warren County Jail on $10,000 bail.
