The seaside resort town of Ocean City, Maryland mourns as the bodies of two police officers were recovered Monday after their plane crashed into the Atlantic Ocean.

Officer 1st Class Joshua Dale Adickes and Officer 1st Class Thomas James Geoghegan Jr. were killed when the airplane Geoghegan was piloting crashed in the water, Ocean City police said. Their bodies were recovered and identified Monday afternoon.

Adickes, 27, of Berlin, Md., is originally from Long Valley, N.J., police said. He joined the Ocean City Police Department as a seasonal police officer in summer 2011 and was hired as a full-time officer in 2012. He was currently assigned to the patrol division.
