GARMSER, Afghanistan – U.S. Marines are battling with Taliban militants in the volatile southern province of Helmand, the world’s largest poppy growing region.  The 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit moved into the notorious poppy field region in late april; the area is the farthest south U.S. forces have been in Afghanistan in years.  For more details on this, click here and return back to comment.
