U.S. Military: Iraqi Shiite fighters return to Iraq after training in Iran

BAGHDAD, Iraq - A U.S. military spokesperson says "special group"…

BAGHDAD, Iraq – A U.S. military spokesperson says “special group” members who may be planning to assassinate key Iraqi government officials and coalition forces are returning to Iraq after training in Iran.  The term “special groups” is used by the U.S. military to describe Iranian-backed militias that operate out of Iraq.  Last month the U.S. military reported that members of the “special group” were being trained for the use of small arms and weapons, reconnaissance, terrorist cell operations, sniper techniques, improvised explosive devices and rocket-propelled grenades.
