Prior to arriving in Iraq in 2004, General James “Mad Dog” Mattis wrote a scathing email concerning officers who claimed they were, “too busy to read.”
The email, which has just recently gone viral on the web, is itself a must-read, including hard-hitting excerpts such as the following:

“We have been fighting on this planet for 5,000 years and we should take advantage of their experience. ‘Winging it’ and filling body bags as we sort out what works reminds us of the moral dictates and the cost of incompetence in our profession.”
