Missions of the .223, .308, .50BMG! One size does not fit all!

When confronted with a tactical equation it can be easy to look for a one-size-fits-all or compromise solution. While there may be no such thing as a “perfect” gun or cartridge, there are certain loads and arms that can be the best answer to the tactical dilemma. Within the confines of this review we will examine the top three choices for the law enforcement rifle. Note that I said rifle, not carbine. We are looking at full-sized rifles with fixed stocks and full-length barrels.

Photo by Chris RohlingWhile law enforcement rifle work shares many similarities to military precision marksmanship, it also has unique characteristics and qualifications. For instance, under most circumstances any hit on target is a good hit for a military sniper. Law enforcement sharpshooters must take more surgical shots. The LE sharpshooter is looking for an instantaneous stop, a “lights out” hit, if you will.
