Classic 1911 carry rigs from Don Hume, Kramer, Fobus!

A strong side hip holster secured to the hip by a large hip paddle; this is a popular way to carry large frame handguns such as the Model 1911. They are easy to put on and remove, and will even work during those occasions when you don’t feel like wearing a belt.

We will examine three paddle holsters for the full-size 1911. There is a Yaqui Slide made by Don Hume Leathergoods with a paddle rather than the tunnel belt loop; a horsehide open top speed scabbard by Kramer Handgun Leather, and a new polymer paddle holster by Fobus Holster.

The Yaqui Slide is a popular way to carry a handgun because when the pistol is removed, it does not look like a holster and the abbreviated pouch works with of any barrel/slide length.
