Practice for Mind & Body

At last! Realistic training that’s 24/7 accessible, affordable, effective!

It was mid-June and I was lying under the sweltering South Carolina sun. No, I wasn’t lounging on the sand in Myrtle Beach. I was belly down in the short grass of the Baker Range on Marine Recruit Depot, Parris Island. It was “Grass Week” and in front of me was a white barrel with little black “Able” and “Dog” targets spray-painted all over it.

nrahigh3.jpgThe first week of marksmanship training for the Marine Recruit was conducted without ever firing a single live round, at least not until Friday. This form of training was not only cost effective but an excellent time management option. Snapping-in or dry-firing practice could be conducted with no special equipment but a rifle and simple target. You didn’t need to set aside the range, or coaches, range and safety officers, or crews to manage targets.
