Kirkpatrick Commander Carry
The late Bruce Nelson designed the Summer Special IWB holster for his personal use in carrying a concealed Colt Government Model .45ACP as an undercover narcotics officer. After retiring, Nelson produced a superb line of practical leather holsters until his untimely death several years ago. The Summer Special became the benchmark for IWB holsters. Kirkpatrick Leather Company now produces a similar holster in their Commander Carry model.

Constructed from dark brown top-grade cowhide, the Commander Carry is a standard wraparound open-top pouch holster that fully encloses the triggerguard for safety with a cocked-and-locked 1911-style pistol. The pouch is wet molded for a glove-like fit and a front sight tunnel is molded into the pouch. The top of the pouch includes a sweat guard, and the top lip is reinforced to prevent it from collapsing and to ensure easy one-hand holstering of the pistol. The gun butt is presented so that a full shooting grip is obtained with first hand contact.
