It ain’t over till it’s over —  don’t risk your collar!

Most law enforcement officers are exposed to a voluminous amount of training in the iden-tification of the elements of arrest, and the mechanics and tactics of making the actual arrest. This is as it should be, for if we don’t survive, nothing else matters. However, our job is not over once the suspect is in custody, and if we don’t follow up with good police work, the risks we take to make the collar may be in vain.

streetsmarts21.jpgA majority of us got into this line of work because we’re idealists who wanted to make a difference in our communities: to help people, keep them safe, and to get the bad guys. Getting the bad guys is undoubtedly one of the most exciting and rewarding facets of the job, but what follows is simply boring, tedious, and mundane. Unfortunately, this tiresome process is imperative.
