Choosing the right scope and reticle for your tactical precision rifle!

Although the popularity of tactical precision rifle shooting is burgeoning at an unprecedented rate, there are a number of issues that greatly influence performance that continue to be overlooked. Most novices in this interesting, challenging and diverse type of marksmanship think success is guaranteed by simply mounting a telescopic sight on some kind of centerfire rifle when there is much more to it than that.
sharpshooter.gifEach area of consideration, what kind of stock, bedding, trigger, barrel type, length and diameter, not to mention caliber, as well as scope, mounts, rings and reticle style, are in truth separate issues; all requiring careful consideration if maximum efficiency is to be obtained.
Among these varied subjects, perhaps the matter of scopes and reticles are the most misunderstood. The vast majority of rifle shooters do not realize tactical shooting is as different from competition or recreational shooting as night is from day. Achieving maximum results requires more than just buying a factory-offered precision rig and slapping a scope on it. There is a lot more to it, and to overlook proper scope and reticle selection will guarantee disappointment when it’s time to take care of business.
