Another Look: S&W M&P 15T 5.56mm

A super versatile sureshot that won’t choke on DESERT SAND!

SMITH & WESSON unveiled their M&P15 rifle at the 2006 SHOT show in Las Vegas and this latest offering makes a lot of sense for a company that deals so heavily with the law enforcement market. Being able to offer a tactical carbine that could be used for patrol duty would ensure that agency dollars stayed with S&W rather than go to competitors that manufactured tactical long guns.

Rather than re-invent the wheel, S&W wisely chose not to try to improve upon the AR-15 design. While the current rage is to replace the rifle’s gas system with a piston system, S&W’s rifle is still very much Eugene Stoner’s direct gas impingement design.
