Upgrading a Remington 870P 12GA into an all-around POWERHOUSE!

HIGH-TECH 5.56mm carbines dripping with electronics, optics and digi-whizzers are all the rage, but the fact is most cops getting out on a “man with gun” call still drag forth a pump action 12 gauge. There’s a reason for that—money! Many law enforcement administrators and all municipal and county governments that foot the bills are notoriously, uhmmmm, thrifty. The trend seems to be departments won’t issue carbines until heavily armored, rifle-armed bad guys hurt or kill someone and responding badges are badly outgunned in the early stages.

shotgun2.jpgIf you are a non-law enforcement person with disposable income, or work for an agency that allows personally owned/department approved (PODA) long guns, you can build the carbine of your dreams. But those on the public’s thin dime at a “shotgun only” agency need not despair if the “carbine fairy” hasn’t come to town. Your .72-caliber pump action tactical rifle can deliver the goods if you train hard and install a few key improvements.
