The primary purpose for any equipment is to enhance individual performance. All too often, law enforcement officers believe equipment issued to them is “acceptable” even though it might not meet their needs. How can a piece of safety gear enhance performance if it is too big, too small, too heavy, too light, too bulky or just plain useless?
For those who serve in any law enforcement capacity, it is wise to remember what your primary function is: You must place yourself between the citizens you protect and those who would prey upon them. Yes, cops are hunters and even though you may spend a large amount of time responding to calls for service, taking reports, investigating crimes after the fact or talking on the phone, your ultimate goal is to stop criminals before they can commit another crime.
