USA Today

transformers_optimus.gifThe U.S. Department of Defense gave its official stamp of approval to the new Transformers Sequel, lending its own share of expertise, equipment and soldiers to the Hollywood production. In order to make the 2007 blockbuster realistic, producers spent $25,000 an hour on expertise provided by the Pentagon and has come back for tips for the upcoming film with even more military involvement.

Director Michael Bay actually set up shop at White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico to film scenes among the dunes, which allowed filmmakers to follow jets and fighter planes through the sky from nearby Holloman Air Force Base.
