Pentagon disputes EPA’s pollution cleanup orders

WASHINGTON - The Environmental Protection Agency is ordering the DoD to clean up three military bases where the EPA says dumped chemicals pose dangers to the environment.

These actions are part of a standoff between the Pentagon and the EPA since the Pentagon declined to sign agreements that would enable the EPA to set a remediation plan and schedules and allow the EPA to oversee the military’s environmental quality.
