Sabre Defence 5.56mm XR15A3-M4 Tactical

A super-versatile sub-MOA sureshot out to 300 meters!

Photos by Leroy ThompsonAmong the many AR15-style carbines being offered today, a few stand out. Among these are the many models available from Sabre Defence, a longtime DoD contractor that has produced barrels for the .50 M2, M134 Mini-Gun, M60D, and M16. Sabre also uses their own CNC machines to produce 80% or more of all the parts that go into the XR15 line. The remaining parts are purchased elsewhere from experienced government contractors who specialize in those components.

I knew that I wanted to try out a Sabre Defence XR15, but deciding which of the 20 or so models I wanted to test was the problem. While tempted by the XR15A3 SPR rifle or carbine, I decided that the XR15A3-M4 Tactical would have the widest appeal.
