Generations of armed professionals have embraced two simple rules. “Train like your life depends on it. Always train with duty ammo.” These are good rules. Unfortunately, training budgets continue to shrink across the nation despite the fact that pistolcraft is a perishable skill. Maintaining motor skills and hand-eye coordination are the key issues here.

optech.gifLearning how to acquire a target and dry firing are good training tools for newbies, while seasoned professionals profit from more realistic live-fire exercises. I’ve found that .22LR conversion kits provide a practical solution for stretching the training dollar. As an instructor, I also discovered that using a suppressed firearm significantly improves the training experience.
