The demands of our war fighters have forced the creation for time-critical strike weaponry. To satisfy that need, a joint collaborative effort was established that is led by the Office of Naval Research (ONR) supported by the U.S. Air Force, NASA and DARPA. Enter the Revolutionary Approach To Time-critical Long Range Strike (RATTLRS) technology demonstration program.
RATTLRS is a supersonic missile flight demonstrator that uses groundbreaking techniques to achieve exceptional flexibility and performance without the use of high fuel-consumption afterburning engines. It has the ability to reach supersonic speeds exceeding over Mach 3 and can reach extended ranges surpassing 500 miles and more. The RATTLRS-derived weapon system is envisioned to be launched from aircraft, ships and submarines against a variety of ground and sea targets
