Only One Knife Store Left
As all dedicated readers of my On The Point column well know, I have long relied on the British to set an example of just how extreme restrictions on knife users can become. It would be easy to say that things could never become that bad here in the U.S.—until you take a closer look at Mayor Bloomberg’s private kingdom of New York City.
Once upon a time, New York was well known for its upscale cutlery, firearms and outdoor supply stores. During the 19th century many of the better American Bowie knifemakers and importers were located there. Up until fairly recently, Abercrombie and Fitch was legendary for catering to wealthy sportsmen with a full line of firearms, outdoor equipment, and custom knives. Famous makers like Bo Randall and Bob Loveless sold knives there.
