Special Forces Combat Master

I “grew up” in the 1st Special Forces Group (Airborne), starting my career with them in 1964 and finishing my time in service there in 1991. Two of my four tours in Vietnam were with the 1st SFG (A). Although I served in the 3rd, 5th and 10th SFGA’s, I always considered the 1st SFG (A) as my home. Naturally, I was very interested when I found out that the 1st SFG (A) was getting its own combat knife.
I had stopped to say hello to Bill Harsey at the Oregon Knife Collectors Show when he told me about the knife project. Bill asked me if I knew “PD.” I have known “PD” for almost 20 years; he is another retired U.S. Army Special Forces Sergeant Major. “PD” now works for a company most people have never heard of, but whose name would be instantly recognized by anyone in the Special Operations community.
